Sabai Massage is the spa of Villa Sabai Jai, a small boutique property of three luxury pool villas on Koh Tao. Located under Turtle Villa, the treatment space is a cool, calm setting where the resident therapists work to loosen sore muscles and soothe sunburned skin, open daily from 9:00 to 20:30.
Massage menu and prices
The menu is refreshingly clear and well priced. Traditional Thai massage, performed without oil using compressing, pressing and stretching techniques, runs from 600 THB for 60 minutes. Thai foot massage, working the reflex points and Sen energy lines, starts at 350 THB for 30 minutes. For oil work, the coconut oil massage uses organic coconut oil made on Koh Tao, while the aloe vera massage uses cooling healing gel that is ideal after too much sun, both from 800 THB for 60 minutes. A sport and deep tissue massage, aimed at strains and sports injuries, is available from 700 THB.
What to expect
Each treatment comes with a clear explanation of its benefits, from improved flexibility and circulation to better sleep and recovery, so visitors can choose the right option for how they feel. The intimate setting, attached to a boutique villa rather than a busy street-front shop, gives the space a quiet, private feel.
Practical information
Sabai Massage is open to visitors as well as villa guests. Villa Sabai Jai also arranges diving, snorkelling and island activities, so a massage can easily be combined with a wider day out. Booking ahead is worthwhile given the small size of the spa.
