New Heaven Dive School is based in Chalok Baan Kao, on the quieter southern side of Koh Tao, and has been teaching on the island since 1995. The school teaches SSI courses, having originally taught PADI, and is closely tied to the New Heaven Reef Conservation Program, founded in 2007.
Alongside the standard path from Open Water through to professional level, New Heaven is known for its research-based conservation training led by resident marine biologists, covering topics such as coral taxonomy, coral restoration and reef surveys. Conservation courses run from a single day to four weeks, with internships of up to three months, and longer courses include certifications through Conservation Diver.
The school also offers freediving and yoga, and runs accommodation and restaurants across two locations, including beachfront and hillside rooms in the Chalok Baan Kao area. Groups are kept small and the teaching approach is consistently focused on the marine environment.
