Fishbowl Beach Bar – Beachfront Bar on Sairee Beach, Koh Tao
Fishbowl Beach Bar is one of the original beach bars on Sairee Beach, set within Bans Diving Resort in central Sairee but open to everyone, not just resort guests. With its thatched-roof wooden bar right on the sand, it’s a long-standing institution of Koh Tao’s after-dark scene and one of the biggest live music venues on the island.
By day, Fishbowl is a relaxed spot to settle into a two-seater beanbag on the sand, catch some sun and watch the waves roll in. As the sun sets over the Gulf of Thailand, the pace picks up. Doors are open daily from mid-afternoon, and the party can run into the early hours.
The drinks menu covers local beer on tap, imported bottles, a large spirits selection, the famous Thai bucket, a shot menu and a long cocktail list with tropical twists on the classics using local fruit and herbs. Daily happy hours and specials are chalked up on the boards.
Live music kicks off every night from around 8pm, with resident musicians playing rock and pop covers, followed by DJ sets that carry through to late. Fire shows on the beach round out one of the most reliable nights out on Sairee. The crowd is a friendly mix of backpackers, divers and returning regulars, with sand for a dance floor and flip-flops for a dress code.
