Big Blue Diving has operated on Koh Tao since 1991, when it opened as only the second dive shop on the island at the end of the original pier. It is now based in central Sairee, on the beachfront, and remains one of the longest-running dive operations in Thailand.
The centre teaches primarily SSI courses, with some PADI options, covering the full path from the one-day introductory experience and the SSI Open Water Diver certification through to advanced, rescue and professional dive guide training. Technical diving through TDI and SSI, along with freediving, is also available. Confined training takes place in a dedicated pool with equipment included, and the school runs its own fleet of dive boats to the main sites around the island.
Big Blue also runs marine conservation eco-internships built around its house reef, developed with in-house marine biologists, and operates Big Blue Chaba, the largest Japanese-language dive school in Sairee. Accommodation is available on site across a range of budgets.
